Take Profit Trader (TPT) is a futures prop firm with a one-step model. You pay a monthly subscription for a simulated Test. Pass it under six core rules and you move to a simulated PRO account that pays real money on withdrawals from day one, after a one-time $130 activation fee. Above that sits PRO+, a live-market account you cannot buy: TPT invites traders into it at its own discretion.
The rulebook in one place, with the numbers per account size and the math behind the “buffer zone” that gates day-one payouts. Everything below comes from TPT’s help center, home page (and the data behind its price cards), rewards page and terms, read on the date in the box above and re-checked every four weeks.
- Five sizes (25K to 150K), monthly subscriptions from $150 to $360, no time limit to pass, resets $79 to $199.
- Test: reach the target ($1,500 → $9,000) without touching an end-of-day (EOD) trailing drawdown ($1,500 → $4,500), trade at least 3 days, keep your best day under 50% of total profit. No daily loss limit.
- PRO: same contract limits, no monthly fee, but an intraday drawdown (open profit counts), at least one trading day a week, and no positions around Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) statements, Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) and the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
- Payouts: 80/20 from day one once the balance clears the buffer zone (starting balance + maximum drawdown, $52,000 on a 50K); no minimum days, no consistency rule, no stated maximum.
- Extra costs: $4.50 per round trip per contract ($1.50 on micros), $50 on wallet payouts of $250 or less, PRO resets $449 to $1,499; refunds only on unused accounts under a 72-hour clause, minus $75.
- Non-negotiables: no bots, no opposite positions across your accounts (ES against MES counts), positions auto-flattened at 4:55 PM ET, no access from restricted countries, including through a VPN or remote connection routed through one.
Take Profit Trader cost per month: account prices, sizes and parameters
All five accounts share one rulebook; only the numbers change. The Test bills every month on the day and hour you bought it, until you pass or cancel; a reset is a new attempt under the same subscription and does not move the renewal date.
| Account | Test price per month | Profit target | Max position (contracts / micros) | EOD trailing drawdown | Test reset |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | $150 | $1,500 | 3 / 30 | $1,500 | $79 |
| 50K | $170 | $3,000 | 6 / 60 | $2,000 | $99 |
| 75K | $245 | $4,500 | 9 / 90 | $2,500 | $139 |
| 100K | $330 | $6,000 | 12 / 120 | $3,000 | $169 |
| 150K | $360 | $9,000 | 15 / 150 | $4,500 | $199 |
Prices in USD per month. TPT’s home page draws its account cards by script from a data endpoint on its own domain; the table shows what that endpoint served on the verification date, with no promotional price next to it. The 50K price is confirmed by three examples in TPT’s promotion FAQs and the 150K by the home-page FAQ (“at most, $360”); the 25K, 75K and 100K figures rest on the feed alone. The home page also advertised the firm’s own promotion (40% off for life, activation fee waived, code at checkout; limited-time, no end date); the promotion’s FAQ prices the 50K Test at $102 a month.
You pick CQG or Rithmic at signup. Level 2 depth is free for one exchange on Rithmic ($15 a month per additional exchange), not offered on CQG. Commissions are set by TPT and identical on Test and PRO: $4.50 per round trip per contract, $1.50 on micros; PRO+ pays the broker’s schedule.
Take Profit Trader evaluation rules: six core rules, no time limit
TPT calls the evaluation a Test and scores six things; there is no daily loss limit and no deadline.
- Rule 1, hit the profit target: $1,500 on a 25K up to $9,000 on a 150K.
- Rule 2, position size: a static cap of 3 to 15 contracts by size, ten times that in micros.
- Rule 3, EOD trailing drawdown: your balance may never touch the “Minimum Account Balance” in the dashboard, recalculated only at the end of the trading day (details below).
- Rule 4, approved products and hours: most CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX futures (34 symbols); no stocks, options, CFDs or spot forex and crypto, while currency futures and the Micro Bitcoin and Micro Ether futures are on the permitted list. The trading day runs 6 PM to 5 PM ET and TPT flattens open positions at 4:55 PM ET; a trade opened at or after 6 PM counts for the next day. Holiday closes are your responsibility. There is no news restriction in the Test: TPT’s home page says you are “free to trade through all news events”.
- Rule 5, be consistent: at least 3 trading days (a day with at least one trade) for Tests bought from August 17, 2026; Tests bought earlier, and their resets, keep the previous 5-day minimum. Your best day must stay below 50% of total net profit; breaking that does not fail you, it raises your target (math below).
- Rule 6, no counter positions: no opposite positions in the same or closely related products across any accounts you control. TPT’s own example: long 2 ES in one account, short 1 MES in another. Both accounts are liquidated and the profit forfeited.
A broken rule disables the account but not the subscription: you reset ($79 to $199), let the next monthly renewal issue a fresh account, or cancel manually, effective at the end of the billing period. TPT’s own disclosure for 2025: 36.22% of Trading Tests were passed.
Take Profit Trader drawdown explained: EOD in the Test, intraday in PRO
Same dollar amounts in both phases, different clock. In the Test the floor follows your highest closing balance. TPT’s 25K example: the minimum balance starts at $23,500; close day one at $26,000 and it moves to $24,500, still $1,500 behind, until it reaches the $25,000 starting balance and locks for good. Touching it at any moment, with realized or unrealized losses, liquidates the account.
In the PRO account the same drawdown becomes intraday trailing: the floor follows the highest balance reached at any moment, open profit included. TPT’s 25K example, $1,500 drawdown: an open trade runs to +$1,000, so the minimum balance rises to $24,500 in real time. You close it for +$500; the balance is $25,500 but the floor stays at $24,500, and you are $1,000 from liquidation instead of $1,500. The floor still stops at the starting balance; the maximum drawdown in PRO is the one from the Test you passed.
Take Profit Trader PRO account rules: activation, contracts, weekly trading, news
- Activation: a one-time $130 fee; the subscription is canceled automatically and nothing rebills in PRO. You sign the PRO contract and a Power of Attorney (POA) form; KYC (identity verification) applies to every registered user. Promotions that waive the fee issue a $130 activation credit instead, on Monday for a Friday pass.
- Same buying power: contract limits equal the Test’s, with no scaling plan. Up to 5 active funded accounts (PRO and PRO+ combined); further passed Tests are queued, and at most 10 passed Tests can be activated in any 30 calendar days. Tests themselves are unlimited.
- Trade your account: at least one trading day per calendar week (Sunday to Friday), one round trip on any permitted instrument; support can grant temporary exceptions.
- Prohibited news: flat and no working orders from one minute before to one minute after FOMC statements (Wednesdays 2:00 PM ET; Fed speakers and minutes are fine), Non-Farm Payrolls (monthly, Fridays 8:30 AM ET) and CPI.
- No bots, no price limits: every trade is manual, and you exit before a CME price limit is reached; a limit hit while you are in costs you the PRO account.
- Resets: up to three per PRO account, each a fresh account with the same rules, at $449 / $649 / $799 / $999 / $1,499 for 25K to 150K. A PRO whose subscription status is “disabled” is closed and cannot be reset; what triggers that status is not defined.
Take Profit Trader payout rules: buffer zone per account size, 80/20 split, day-one withdrawals
The gate is the buffer zone, equal to the maximum drawdown. Once the balance reaches it, everything above the buffer is withdrawable at 80%, from day one, with no minimum number of profitable days, no consistency rule in PRO, no payout window and no stated maximum per request.
| PRO account | Maximum drawdown | Buffer zone (balance to reach) |
|---|---|---|
| 25K | $1,500 | $26,500 |
| 50K | $2,000 | $52,000 |
| 75K | $2,500 | $77,500 |
| 100K | $3,000 | $103,000 |
| 150K | $4,500 | $154,500 |
On the buffer after a closure TPT’s help center says: “You can withdraw 50% of your Buffer Zone after your account is closed.” TPT’s home-page table says: “Profits inside the buffer zone can be withdrawn from a disabled PRO account.” The two statements do not match, and neither page explains the mechanism.
- Step one, account to wallet: the dashboard balance updates once a day between 8 and 9 PM ET. You enter an amount, TPT’s 20% is deducted and the 80% lands in your TPT wallet; you must be flat with no working orders at that exact moment. On Tradovate PRO accounts the step is automated (5 to 10 seconds); Rithmic accounts, PRO+, canceled or disabled PRO accounts and a few archived accounts are reviewed manually. The automated step is refused only for insufficient funds, open positions or orders, or a Tradovate outage, and can be resubmitted at once.
- Step two, wallet to bank: reviewed within up to 12 business hours. The first time you sign a tax form (W-9 for US persons, W-8BEN for everyone else). US banks are paid through Plaid, normally in real time and sometimes in 1 to 2 business days; PayPal and Wise payouts are processed within 12 business hours. The step is delayed or denied if the receiving account is not in the registered user’s name.
- Fees: wallet payouts above $250 are free; $250 or less costs $50; PayPal may add its own.
The Take Profit Trader consistency and buffer math, with examples
Consistency (Test only). Divide your best day’s net P/L by total net P/L; the result must be below 50% (the help center says “below”, the home page “cannot be more than 50%”: we use the stricter reading). Otherwise nothing fails: your goal becomes “more than twice your best day”. TPT’s own 50K example: +$2,000, +$600 and +$500 give $3,100, above the $3,000 target, but $2,000 ÷ $3,100 = 65%. The goal becomes more than $4,000, with no further day worth half or more of the total.
Buffer (PRO). A 50K PRO account starts at $50,000 with a $2,000 drawdown: the floor starts at $48,000 and trails intraday until it reaches $50,000, exactly when the balance first touches the $52,000 buffer zone. From there every dollar is withdrawable at 80%. At $53,000 a $1,000 request puts $800 in the wallet and leaves $52,000 in the account, $2,000 above a floor that no longer moves.
Take Profit Trader activation fee, subscription mechanics and refund policy
- $130 activation, one time per PRO account, never monthly. Under the firm’s own “no activation fee” promotions the fee is waived for life, resets included, through a $130 credit. Tests bought with reward credits are valid 60 days and take no promotion.
- The subscription bills on the same day and hour each month until you pass or cancel. If the final charge attempt fails the account expires for good; an overdue balance blocks the move to PRO even after a pass. Cancel and you keep access to the end of the paid period; a Test not at target by then counts as unsuccessful. A renewal comes with a fresh account only if yours is disabled at that moment.
- Refunds: under TPT’s Terms of Service (in effect since August 27, 2024), “if you purchase an account with us and change your mind, we will refund you within 72 hours”. Used or traded accounts are excluded and a $75 fee is deducted for data and technology costs. Whether the 72 hours is your window to ask or TPT’s processing time is not spelled out. The terms also waive your right to dispute payments with your bank.
What Take Profit Trader prohibits: bots, counter positions, coordinated trading, VPNs
TPT’s Universal Trading Policies apply to Test, PRO and PRO+ alike. Beyond the 4:55 PM ET flatten, the news rule and price limits covered above:
- Automation of any kind: bots, algos and algorithmic execution tools. Trade copiers are allowed only across accounts you own and control and only from the approved list (Tradesyncer, TradeCopia, Affordable Indicators, Replikanto Flowbot Compliance Edition, platform-native copiers); their trades count as yours.
- Counter positions: long and short in the same or correlated products across your accounts, hedges included: liquidation and forfeiture of the account’s profit.
- Coordinated trading: mirroring other users, “pass” or “payout” services, multiple identities; a shared IP alone is not a violation.
- Restricted countries: a single trade or data session from one, including through a VPN, remote connection or shared network routed there, blocks the account, and registration is refused while a VPN is active. One email address per customer.
- Unsustainable patterns: maximum size on most trades, repeatedly blown loss limits, simulation-only fills, account churning.
Sanctions range from a reset to profit forfeiture, account closure and permanent bans.
What a Take Profit Trader account really costs before the first payout
Take a 50K Test, the size TPT uses in its own examples, passed in the first month without a reset.
- Money out: $170 for the first month plus $130 to activate the PRO, $300 at list prices; $102 with the firm’s own promotion displayed on the home page on the verification date (40% off, activation fee waived). Each extra month adds $170 or $102, each reset $99.
- What the account must do: make $3,000 in the Test over at least three days, with no single day worth half or more of the total. Then make $2,000 more in the PRO account, against an intraday floor, before the first dollar is withdrawable. Nothing earned in the Test is paid.
- Break-even: at list prices you need $300 in hand, which is $375 withdrawn at 80%, so a PRO balance of $52,375; a payout above $250 carries no fee. At the promotional price you need $102, which is $127.50 withdrawn, but a wallet payout of $250 or less costs $50. The two routes are a $190 withdrawal ($152 in the wallet, $102 after the fee), or a wallet payout above $250, which means more than $312.50 withdrawn from a balance above $52,312.50.
- Attempts are the variable. Failed attempts are where real numbers diverge from the brochure (our data on what traders actually spend before a first payout); TPT’s own 36.22% pass rate for 2025 says most Tests end without a PRO account.

Track your TPT accountsTake Profit Trader PRO+ and PRO+ Development: the live accounts
PRO+ is a live-market account funded with TPT’s own capital. You cannot apply: TPT reviews PRO traders holistically and invites by email at its sole discretion. Terms: 90/10 split, no buffer requirement, EOD drawdown, and the same news rule as PRO. On upgrade the PRO account is put on hold with $5,000 of its profit frozen; anything above stays withdrawable at the PRO split. The same page also says that after the upgrade all trading and withdrawals happen on the PRO+ account only. The live account starts at $0 with an EOD drawdown equal to the original PRO drawdown, −$2,000 on a 50K, and the floor trails realized end-of-day profit up to $0, then stops. If the PRO+ is lost, a negative balance comes out of the frozen $5,000. A PRO+ cannot be reset: you return by passing a new Test or resetting a PRO account.
PRO+ Development is the live account TPT assigns to traders whose record shows aggressive sizing, rapid drawdowns or blown loss limits. Payouts are unchanged; the risk box is smaller:
| PRO+ Development | Max contracts (minis / micros) | Daily loss limit (soft breach) | EOD drawdown |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | 1 / 10 | $500 | $750 |
| 50K | 2 / 20 | $1,000 | $1,250 |
| 75K | 3 / 30 | $1,250 | $1,500 |
| 100K | 4 / 40 | $1,500 | $1,750 |
| 150K | 5 / 50 | $2,000 | $2,250 |
The daily loss limit pauses you for the day without failing the account. A separate cooldown applies to these accounts: if your net loss of TPT’s live capital reaches $10,000 in any rolling 30 days, new purchases pause for 30 days while existing accounts keep trading. During a cooldown, passed Tests can still be activated, but only as PRO+ Development accounts. TPT’s 10% share of any PRO+ Development payout is credited back and reduces your running total.
Who the Take Profit Trader rules suit
The Test is forgiving on the clock and strict on shape: no deadline, no daily loss limit, but three days minimum, a 50% consistency cap and an EOD floor that locks at breakeven. PRO flips the drawdown to intraday and then gets out of your way: no consistency rule, no payout caps, daily withdrawals above a buffer worth one drawdown. It does not fit swing traders (auto-flatten at 4:55 PM ET), news traders in PRO (flat around FOMC, NFP and CPI) or anyone who hedges across accounts. The monthly fee makes time the main cost, so the subscription meter, not the split, decides whether an account is ahead: counting every month and reset per firm shows it.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Take Profit Trader cost per month?
On the verification date TPT’s home page data listed $150 a month for the 25K Test, $170 for the 50K, $245 for the 75K, $330 for the 100K and $360 for the 150K. Billing is monthly until you pass or cancel. The firm’s own current promotion (40% off for life, activation fee waived, applied with a code at checkout) prices the 50K at $102 a month. Resets cost $79 to $199; PRO activation is a one-time $130.
Does Take Profit Trader have an activation fee?
Yes, a one-time $130 fee to open the PRO account, with no monthly fees in PRO. Under the firm’s own “no activation fee” promotions it is waived for life through a $130 credit, resets included; higher reward tiers can also carry waived activation fees.
What are the Take Profit Trader payout rules?
In PRO you keep 80% and withdraw from day one once the balance reaches the buffer zone, the starting balance plus the maximum drawdown ($52,000 on a 50K). Above it: no minimum number of days, no consistency rule, no payout window, no stated maximum. You must be flat with no working orders when you request.
What is the Take Profit Trader buffer zone on a 50K account?
$52,000: the $50,000 starting balance plus the $2,000 maximum drawdown. Nothing is withdrawable until the balance reaches it; everything above it is, at 80%. On the buffer after a closure the help center says: “You can withdraw 50% of your Buffer Zone after your account is closed.” The home-page table says: “Profits inside the buffer zone can be withdrawn from a disabled PRO account.” The two do not match.
How long does a Take Profit Trader payout take?
Two steps. Account to wallet is automated on Tradovate PRO accounts (5 to 10 seconds); Rithmic accounts, PRO+ and canceled or disabled PRO accounts are reviewed manually. Wallet to bank takes up to 12 business hours of review; Plaid to US banks is then normally real time (sometimes 1 to 2 business days) and PayPal or Wise is processed within 12 business hours.
Is there a withdrawal limit at Take Profit Trader?
TPT states no maximum withdrawal amount and no minimum number of profitable days in PRO. The buffer zone must stay in the account, wallet payouts of $250 or less cost $50, and the bank, Wise or PayPal account must be in the registered user’s name.
Does Take Profit Trader have a consistency rule?
Only in the Test: your best day must be below 50% of your total net profit. If it is half or more, your target becomes more than twice your best day (TPT’s example: a $2,000 day means you need more than $4,000). In PRO there is no consistency rule; TPT lists “no funded consistency rule” among its payout promises.
What are the Take Profit Trader PRO account rules?
No bots, no counter positions, exit before CME price limits, trade at least one day per calendar week, and stay flat and order-free one minute either side of FOMC statements, Non-Farm Payrolls and CPI. The drawdown is intraday trailing, equal to your Test’s, counts open profit and locks at the starting balance. Contract limits equal the Test’s; up to three resets at $449 to $1,499.
What are the Take Profit Trader 150K account rules?
The 150K Test costs $360 a month: profit target $9,000, 15 contracts or 150 micros, EOD trailing drawdown $4,500, at least 3 trading days, best day below 50% of total profit, reset $199. The 150K PRO keeps the 15-contract limit, switches to an intraday trailing drawdown of $4,500, pays out at 80% above a $154,500 buffer zone and can be reset three times at $1,499. A 150K PRO+ carries a $4,500 EOD drawdown ($2,250, 5 contracts and a $2,000 soft daily loss limit in the Development version).
Is there a daily loss limit at Take Profit Trader?
Not in the Test’s six core rules and not in the PRO account rules. TPT’s home-page comparison table lists the daily loss rule as “None” for Test, PRO and PRO+, and its account cards show the “Daily Loss Limit” row struck through and labeled “Removed”. The only daily loss limit is on PRO+ Development live accounts, a soft breach of $500 to $2,000 depending on size that pauses trading for the day without failing the account.
How do I get a Take Profit Trader PRO+ account?
You cannot buy or apply for one; TPT reviews PRO traders holistically and invites by email at its sole discretion. On upgrade the PRO account is paused with $5,000 of its profit frozen, and the live PRO+ starts at $0 with an EOD drawdown equal to your PRO drawdown, a 90/10 split and no buffer requirement.
What is Take Profit Trader’s refund policy?
The Terms of Service (in effect since August 27, 2024) say: “If you purchase an account with us and change your mind, we will refund you within 72 hours”, minus a $75 fee for third-party technology and data costs. Used or traded accounts are not refundable; the terms say nothing specific about resets or activation fees, and do not spell out whether the 72 hours is your window to ask or TPT’s processing time.
What tax form does Take Profit Trader require?
Before your first payout you sign a tax form through ComplyExchange: W-9 if you are a US resident, citizen or US company, W-8BEN otherwise. TPT is a US company and sends a year-end document summarizing what it paid you; filing is your responsibility.
